Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: When is the art studio open for me to use?
A: Saturdays, 10am-4pm (we plan to eventually expand these hours, but for now, this is what we're starting with.)
Q: What can I do in the studio?
A: Basically, it works like this.you pick your piece first. It could be a box, tray, birdhouse, journal, art doll, etc. And then you decide what to do with it. You can choose one of three things: 1) paint it, 2) decoupage it, 3) mosaic it. Prices vary according to the item you choose, and what you want to do with it. There will always be someone on hand in the studio to answer questions, supervise, and help out as needed. There are also several projects available that incorporate several methods at once.
Q: What's this about a "glitter bar"?
A: I know, it sounds too good to be true, doesn't it? We have a large selection of glitter, in every color of the rainbow. For a small fee, you can add glitter to your project, or we have special glitter projects right at the bar..such as making your own sparkly bracelets, rings and pens. This is for girls of all ages..in fact, our best glitter customers have been ladies over 40!
Q: How much can I expect to pay to create in the studio?
A: It really varies according to the project you work on. There is a $3/hour studio fee per person, plus the price of the item. We have projects that cost as little as $5, and range up to $50-$75. Most projects you will find in the median range..$10-$25. You can also bring in a piece from home to work on and we will take these pricing issues on a case by case basis.
Q: What's so great about coming to the studio?
A: Have you seen the studio? It's a blast!! It's a fabulous room, with high ceilings, brick walls, a zebra striped couch, and paper lanterns everywhere. It's literally exploding with color and inspiration. Coming to a place like this is a great opportunity to make new friends who enjoy similar activities. And a very nice benefit is that everything you need is right there. You won't have to invest large amounts of money in supplies for an experimental project, and you won't have to deal with cleaning up the mess in your own home.
Q: Do kids need their parents with them?
A: We love having well-mannered, well-behaved kids in the studio! With that being said, the staff of The Dreaming Bear reserve the right to refuse service to unattended children if they are disruptive and don't follow the rules, or if we feel a child is simply too young to attend alone. Children must always have emergency phone numbers written on their form when they are dropped off at the studio.
Q: How do I protect my clothes?
A: The Dreaming Bear art studio does provide painting shirts and aprons for you to use, but we advise you don't wear your Sunday best when preparing to work on an art project. Wear clothing that is appropriate for painting and making messes. We are not responsible for ruined clothing, sorry.
